I like travel because travel is a way to relax myself. When I was a little boy, my parents often took me to some famous places near my house. We went mountain climbing, swimming, and picnicking. Little by little, travel becomes one of my hobbies. I often make a long-term plan to travel somewhere during my summer vacation. This time, I'd like to go to Sheng-Hsing railway station.

Geography meaning is the first point I would like to visit Sheng-Hsing railway station. It is the highest one in Taiwan west railway system. Since the old mountain line of Taiwan Railway System discontinued from Sep. 23, 1998, the remaining tracks, beautiful views and treasurable memory have attracted many tourists to visit them. Thus, it becomes a very famous spot. Everyone likes to take picture with the stele named " The climax of Taiwan Railway System. " Stand here and feel our ancestors' greatness.

Dragon and lion dances have been passe on for hundreds of years. The dragons and lions are shiney, bright, and colourful making them really beautiful. The origin of the dragon dances comes from the ancient chinese "Dance of the Sraw Dragon," in 960 A.D. in the Sung dynasty. The lion dance goes back to 618 A.D., the tang dynasty. Chinese people believe that they are the, "Decendandts of the Dragon." The style of clothing of the lion dancers depends on wether it comes from the north or the south of China. The northern style is less beautiful and colorful whele the southern is beautiful and colorful but, none of them is better than the cantonese style.
Kuring special holidays youn can see these dances in the streets. When watching the dancers performing, the audience would catch on with the cheerful mood, and cheer and would cheer and clap. The dragbon is made of segments that are each supported by a pole held up by a man. The head and tail are the two heaviest parts of the dragon. The lion es controlled by two men, working closely together. They will climb up on a long ople about ten feet high. As the dragon moves about, another man would throw some powder into the air in front of th ehead and a flame would blaze up from a torch and catch the powdert on fire.

Usually, the man that holds up the head and tail would be very strong. There are always men who would change positions at different times. The men that priforme the lion dance are especially trained to do some Kung-fu strodes while dancing. The Dragon and the Lion dance is something very special in the chinese custom.

Dragon Boat festival is a Chinese traditional festival held on the fifth day of the fifth moon on the lunar calendar. Nowadays, a lot of people know the dragon boat race and Zong Zi(a pyramid-shaped mass of glutinous rice wrapped in leaves). Furthurmore, it becomes a important holiday and tourist activity in Taiwan. Some people join this competition not only for the award but the teamwork among each rower. Therefore, classmates, colleagues, and residents in the same region will sign up the annual Dragon Boat race together.

About the history of Dragon Boat festival, It can be traced to more than two thousand years ago. The stories come from a ancient patriot-poet Qu Yuan who lived from 340-278 B.C. Qu Yuan was a minister who advocated reforms in his home state of Chu. The King refused to listen to Qu Yuan's advice and instead banished him from the state of Chu. To express his concern for his country and people, he wrote a famous poetry. In 278, when Qu Yuan heard that his home had been invaded, he drowned himself in the Mi Lo River. Thus, the festival commemorates the life and death of the patriotic poet.

Near Taipei 101, there is one special building catched up many people's eyes. After 188s Taipei 101 firework show, some people also shot off fireworks on the top of building and it took longer time than Taipei 101's. Therefore, somebody called it "Taipei 102". To be honest, I don't know its real name, but I like its style characteristic. Don't you think it's very beautiful?

Taipei 101, whose official name is Taipei Financial Centre, is the tallest building in the world so far. It was designed by C.Y.Lee and partners and constructed by KTRT Joint Venture. Taipei 101's roof was completed on July 1,2003 and then opened for visitors. Since it completely built, it has been the most famous landmark in Taipei. There is also firewrok show every new year's eve. In 2007, more than 400,000 people came and enjoyed the happy moment tigether, so was I. I took some pictures from different ways and selected the four better ones. It was really crowded at that night. However, I still feel very worthy of seeing the firework show. The firework is instant but the meaning will exist forever.
