Lantern festival is a traditional custom in Chinese culture. In Taipei, you can see many festooned vehicles on the street and people carrying small lanterns. This is so-called Taipei Lantern Festival. Since I was a little boy, I has joined this activity for many times. Noe only did I like lanterns , but also I can have fun outside and see many kind of people on the street. Although it's very crowded, I really enjoy the atmosphere.
Talking about Lantern Festival, it is also known as Shang Yuan Festival. On the fifteenth day of the first moon, decorative lanterns depicting birds, historical figures, and any one of a number of different themes are carried by children or adults. In ancient times, the lanterns were fairly simple. Fire, bamboo and simple papers composed a plain lantern. in modern times, lanterns have been embellished with many complex designs with more creativity.
